renowned for its product quality and customer service. This tradition is
upheld today making F.D. Sims the preferred
supplier to many major companies.

conductors such as Nomex®, Mica and paper manufactured to exact size and
specification, F.D. Sims offers a comprehensive
service to its’ customers.
Our

in compliance with requirements of BS EN ISO 9002: 1994. Product recognition
by Underwriters Laboratory Inc. (USA) has been obtained for Polyester 2000
Dual Coat enamel and Solderable 130 Polyurethane enamel round wires (UL File
No. E103815).
Modern
electrical products demand that magnet wires for coil winding be drawn from
carefully selected raw materials, both the conductor and the insulation
materials being manufactured to a high standard and under controlled
conditions.
Conductor
Continuous
cast copper rod is selected for its drawability, good surface and annealing
properties. Rod is drawn to sizes required for the enamel round wire
operation or through a rod breakdown machine for strip manufacture, read for
rolling or die drawing. Die manufacture is carried out in-house, giving F.D.
Sims total quality control and production flexibility.
Insulation
Materials
Enamels
- The enamels are
selected for their mechanical, electrical, chemical and thermal properties
according to their purpose. The correct choice of enamel, its application
and lubrication all ensure that the finished wire is capable of withstanding
the high speeds of modern coil winding machines and have properties often
beyond those required by BS, NEMA and IEC Standards.
Taped
Products -
Both copper and aluminium conductors can be insulated with Nomex®, Paper,
Mica and Polyester Films according to customer’s specification. These
tapes are stored under controlled conditions and are continually monitored
for shelve life. Tapes are applied on high speed taping machines ensuring
accurate registration. F.D. Sims can also provide an emergency manufacturing
service on any of the above products.
